Jo Mugglestone

We are sad to be losing Jo Mugglestone from the staff of the Living Well Project. Jo first started as a volunteer with the Cafes as they began, and then became a Cafe Coordinator as we saw the work progress and develop. Her cheery, commitment and interest in everyone was a real asset to the Cafes. We wish her well as she takes more time for herself and her family, and we pray God’s rich blessing upon her.

Please join us for our Annual General Meeting on Monday 22nd January at Newhills Church at 7pm.

Reports will be given on the work of both the Befriending Service and the Cafe, and an overview of where we have come in the past year as a Project and where we would hope to be travelling.

There will also be a Financial Report to indicate the condition of funding.

This is an open meeting so you would be very welcome.

Ageing and Living Well

The Living Well Project” was discussed along with the Sheddocksley Baptist Church’s “Parish Nursing” and “Fine Piece” at a meeting at the Beach Ballroom this week with Prof John Swinton as their keynote speaker. Organised by Aberdeen City Council, it spoke positively about the Project’s distinctive contribution and possibilities for “Ageing and Living Well” in Aberdeen.

Tesco bags of help

The Living Well Project has been chosen for a Tesco ‘Bags of Help’ grant. However we need your help! We need you to vote for us when you shop in Tesco.

To vote, you only need to make a purchase within store of any value. You will receive one token per transaction and it’s not necessary to purchase a carrier bag in order to receive a token. (If you are not given a token, please ask for one) You then pop your token in the box of The Living Well Project. The charity will then be awarded a grant depending on the amount of votes.

The list of stores taking part in the voting for The Living Well Project are:
Tesco Extra – Danestone
Tesco Superstore – Wellington Road, Aberdeen.
Tesco Express – Great Western Road.
Tesco Express – Great Northern Road.
Tesco Express – Holburn Street.
Tesco Express – North Deeside Road.
Tesco Express – Union Street.
Tesco Superstore – Westhill.
Tesco Superstore – Woodend, (Lang Stracht.)

Plenty of opportunity to support the invaluable work of the project. The voting is open during January and February 2018.

Thank you!

Support us at the COOP

We have been successful in being selected as one of the local charities which will be supported by the Co-op membership rewards scheme between now and next October. The scheme works by Co-op members nominating your cause to receive 1% of their spending on co-op products in store and with their other products.

This will clearly be a source of some income for the project but also a very important way of raising the profile of all the hard work that the project does.

So if you are not a member, please consider becoming one and support the project through this.
Thank you!

Coffee Morning

A big THANK YOU to everyone who came to make our Living Well Project Coffee Morning on Saturday at Newhills Church such a success. We raised £800.

We are grateful to all those who helped in the kitchen, served at the tables, manned the various stalls and generally made such a buzz in the hall.

Befriending Service

The Befriending Service is currently operating at its maximum number of matches, volunteers to friends, but we want to maintain the standard of care and support for volunteers for which the Project is renowned. Once funding is secured, we will look at appointing a further Befriending Co-ordinator to enable the work to expand.
